My name is Trevor Gilbert and I am a new arrival to FCSS and to the Coaldale area. I completed a practicum with FCSS in 2018. My training includes a Child and Youth Care diploma through Lethbridge College, an Addictions Counselling degree through the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I use a strength-base, person centered approach. I have an eclectic approach, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Solution focused approaches, Mindfulness and grounding strategies, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy. My approach is one of empathy and compassion and I strive to help others develop empathy and compassion towards themselves. I also believe in the importance of feeling connected. This includes being connected to others, to yourself, to nature, work, your story and anything else that is important to you. I have experience supporting individuals facing a wide variety of issues including but not limited to trauma recovery, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, family violence, life transitions, relationship stressors and grief processes.
I am accepting new clients.
