Amanda Fontaine
My name is Amanda Fontaine and I am a new arrival to FCSS and to the Coaldale area. I grew up on a farm in rural Manitoba and spent the first ten years of my social work career in Regina, SK - a prairie girl through and through! My training includes a Bachelor of Social Work degree through the University of Regina, a Master of Social Work degree from Dalhousie University, as well as additional training in Narrative Therapy, Attachment-Based Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, and the Expressive Arts.
Karen Wind Vandenberg
My name is Karen, and I am a practicum student working on the last step to completing a Master in Counselling degree. I am a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and my developing counselling style is mainly informed by Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, all having a foundation built on being client-centered. My life experience before beginning this degree includes growing up on a farm and working in the agricultural sector here in Southern Alberta.
Laura Devlin
My name is Laura and I have been a counsellor at FCSS since 2017. As a counsellor with Family and Community Support Services, I work towards helping individuals, couples and families to more successfully journey through life hopes, challenges, experiences and transitions. Committed to the principles of self determination, self efficacy, and a fundamental belief in the innate worth and dignity of all persons, I use a strength’s based, short-term goal directed counselling approach to help clients grow and guide themselves down their chosen and preferred pathways.
Michael Fedunec
My name is Mike and I have been the Counselling Services Supervisor at FCSS since January of 2019. I am a Certified Professional Counsellor (CPC), Canadian CertifiedCounsellor , Certified Professional Counsellor Supervisor (CPCS), Canadian Certified Counsellor Supervisor (CCC-S) and a registered member of the Association ofCounselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA). With over 27 years of counselling experience I have come to believe healing begins with unconditional acceptance and understanding. I offer a compassionate, respectful, and safe environment as we strive together to gain insight into your current struggles.
Tanie Reid-Walker

My name is Tanie and I have been a counsellor at FCSS since 2004. Across the life span, of Rural Albertans, I have been supporting with situations such as Grief, Loss, Life Transition, Self Esteem, communication, relationship building, mild anxiety and depression, anger and more. I am trained in level two Gottman Marriage and apply this training when working with families and couples. A career long passion has been supporting people with mourning their losses.
Tim Krahn
My name is Tim and I have been a counsellor at FCSS since 2019. I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, doing a practicum with FCSS, and am a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. After completing my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta in 2006, I taught in public and private schools for about 12 years. My counselling generally follows Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a client centered and solution focused approach.
Trevor Gilbert
My name is Trevor Gilbert and I am a new arrival to FCSS and to the Coaldale area. I completed a practicum with FCSS in 2018. My training includes a Child and Youth Care diploma through Lethbridge College, an Addictions Counselling degree through the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I use a strength-base, person centered approach. I have an eclectic approach, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Solution focused approaches, Mindfulness and grounding strategies, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy.
